Mortgage lenders and insurance partners

19 of the 21 assessed companies among the 25 largest US mortgage lenders name no third party insurance partner on any page retrieved from their own sites.

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act data browser, as of 31 December 2025.

What was counted

Each company on the list was assessed by reading its own site. A company counts as naming an insurance partner only where a page retrieved from that site names one. Nothing is inferred from a logo, a job posting or a third party directory.

The list holds 25 companies. 21 were assessed. 2 could not be assessed and are counted in neither direction. 1 is excluded from assessment because its site refuses this crawler and the question cannot be answered elsewhere. 1 is omitted from the dataset entirely, for reasons unrelated to its partnership activity.

What the number is not

It does not say these companies have no insurance partner. It says they do not name one on their own site. A partnership that exists and is not published is invisible to this method, and that is the whole of what is being measured.

The companies that could not be assessed are not counted as either. A site that refuses automated reading tells us nothing about that company, and recording it as an absence would be inventing evidence out of our own limitation.

How to check it

Every company and the evidence for it is listed with the page it was read from. The methodology states how a page is retrieved and what counts as naming a partner.
